Still kicking...<br />
<br />
I realize that I've neglected this blog for over a year.<br />
<br />
2018 was actually a great year for adventures. I went to see family out of town a couple of times, a rare thing in the past because of work. I also went on a cruise for the first time and had a sample of Barcelona and Marseille. Of course, these adventures wouldn't be complete without a little creature to go with me for some photo ops. Check out the highlights below:<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
In 2019, I went to Harry Potter World in Orlando....Nothing else was relevant....I mean what could be more important than living your wizard dreams even if it's just for a few days? (Sorry Poppy Parker).<br />

<div>
Another year gone and all the best intentions I had for this blog with it. I started out last year with the greatest of intentions to get actively blogging again. Didn't quite work out. Still here though. And my silence in the dolliverse didn't at all mean that I wasn't actively collecting and seeking out dolls. It still rained Poppy Parker in my home. I'm actually slightly Poppied out at the moment. Below are a few of the non-Poppy girls that entered my home.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Three great dolls worthy of separate blog posts when I got them. But I was too lazy. Oopsies...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
On another note, bigger dolls entered my doll collecting world too... and with a vengeance. After having worked for a local doll company that rivaled the American Girl dolls, Maplelea, I now have two Maplelea dolls on top of two American Girl dolls I had from a few years back. For big dolls, that's a lot. I'd even fallen in love with A Girl for All Time dolls that I had to have one. That's already one AGAT doll too many. The great thing about big dolls is that I don't have the urge to acquire quantities of them...Ok, not entirely true. If I had a lot of money and space, I'd probably horde as many. As it is, their sheer size keeps me a bit disciplined with spending where they're concerned. Their outfits are another story though. Plus, when Sears Canada went out of business, I was able to acquire Newberry doll accessories that are sized perfectly for my big dolls for really really good prices. Story for another day.</div>
<div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A Girl for All Time Lydia, aka, Delphyne</td></tr>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2017 was the first year since probably 2007 or 2008 that I decided not to join the Barbie Fan Club. It was the first year in a very long time that I didn't acquire a single Barbie doll. I'm actually a bit weirded out typing that last sentence. Luckily, I get over myself fairly quickly. So on a happier note, I was able to get my hands on another Peewee Parker creation before 2017 ended and she arrived in the first week of 2018. </div>

Little Nunu and Chloe were found lurking around the back garden of Hotel Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre in London, Ontario a few weeks ago. Their adventures have been far in between in the last few years. It was a much needed photo shoot.<br />

I was actually fortunate enough to be able to work briefly for Maplelea earlier this year. As a doll collector, there's nothing more exhilarating than to be surrounded by dolls at work! I had such a blast and can now check off having been able to work for a toy company on my bucket list.<br />

My 2017 begun on a fairly good note, though as they say, the road is long and winding, so who knows what the future holds. I'm absolutely in love with the above photo of Tilly as she is posed to set on an adventure. I've been going through such a roller coaster life journey of my own. One foot in front of the other, I've had to keep reminding myself. We all search for those blue skies just beyond the winding road and I love how I've captured that in the photo. Of course, what is an adventure without a few quirky friends to keep you sane along the way?<br />

To those who aren't familiar with Maplelea dolls, they are 18 inches like AG dolls. But what makes them truly Canadian is how the character dolls represent different provinces of Canada, their storylines reflecting lives of modern Canadian girls from their cities of origin.</div>

<br />
It has been some time since I'd actually received dolls in the mail and opened them right away. In fact, most of my 2016 Poppy Parker dolls are still in their box prison and I'm really hoping to get to them soon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuRv330S84X98Tex01rrSR-rRcP_cXhA0LJu9ZG9Qz1DT9J1bdU9tj_KKd7UyYq-o_Hjyag-Uq8DownP2K5-oow-Kwm6r3OSiVz5R_Glrpd7Ud5RKW9zlxNk9N6QH3uKM8hHFkBMJ9yX0/s1600/tatet1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuRv330S84X98Tex01rrSR-rRcP_cXhA0LJu9ZG9Qz1DT9J1bdU9tj_KKd7UyYq-o_Hjyag-Uq8DownP2K5-oow-Kwm6r3OSiVz5R_Glrpd7Ud5RKW9zlxNk9N6QH3uKM8hHFkBMJ9yX0/s640/tatet1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm sure I had mentioned somewhere in my blog before that male dolls aren't really my thing. But the Industry boys got me excited and so here they are. So far, they don't disappoint. I love Tate's partially flocked hair and white jacket.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJAApw97VjebHHZU5_E5tYTBOkbZcSX6qmHyM_aWnSipYV-W3F34n1SM5koFAoQlcwExCF9C4XEDrhRh5XyQBJQiSz9bevdYLCprIKxXXaGL4GTkUwWMqj9LSwmQf5gfVEPFnarEBEYB8/s1600/cabotc1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJAApw97VjebHHZU5_E5tYTBOkbZcSX6qmHyM_aWnSipYV-W3F34n1SM5koFAoQlcwExCF9C4XEDrhRh5XyQBJQiSz9bevdYLCprIKxXXaGL4GTkUwWMqj9LSwmQf5gfVEPFnarEBEYB8/s640/cabotc1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
I probably need to flatten Cabot's hair a bit but I'm totally digging the white hair and I have a particular fondness for the face sculpt that is practically a twin to Dynamite Boy Auden.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgo9hvs-e6bINjx6TE1eocUrsZJHsoehzh0emyVilqGlGULOfVYs7HUoFaqM1n5tupe2PuftJtQzImhEt2PPwat1sTc7zxNzn1lsjXaVe3aE5q5-OL6VNLFRdW3-mXEvQiaTqbAjtvkTk/s1600/cabotc-auden1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgo9hvs-e6bINjx6TE1eocUrsZJHsoehzh0emyVilqGlGULOfVYs7HUoFaqM1n5tupe2PuftJtQzImhEt2PPwat1sTc7zxNzn1lsjXaVe3aE5q5-OL6VNLFRdW3-mXEvQiaTqbAjtvkTk/s640/cabotc-auden1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's Auden and Cabot side by side... Still prefer Auden but they are practically twins even though the description for Cabot says he's a new sculpt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiszzZKJqjomcoEcImmalRzUle9GL36F-v3ptqgNZlFUmTYPduIZxjVuM2ibZsqoVg2LQ5yQQukCb4bpTbNInZXbTejdYHobp1tkgrFYGTtJTHgICUSwlg4P6iEzeuA_jLK28ccHYRXM5Q/s1600/liuliul1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiszzZKJqjomcoEcImmalRzUle9GL36F-v3ptqgNZlFUmTYPduIZxjVuM2ibZsqoVg2LQ5yQQukCb4bpTbNInZXbTejdYHobp1tkgrFYGTtJTHgICUSwlg4P6iEzeuA_jLK28ccHYRXM5Q/s640/liuliul1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, here's Liu Liu Ling.... I'm not the biggest fan of her name but gosh darn it, that hair style is super cool! Plus the overall pink and black just go so well together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgWxKMCb1b2q7effOMs-mm_06LYTuna_unWoaQ0rM1q_3GYMRb80V5D0VcMwWVsIQIwuRB0X0iklTKf4W7b7uZicQsVrhO4qNBSN2ZlpatIC9JISNRwXp1rGs9r8x2hOXBFNh3gxTa8c0/s1600/industryvspoppyp1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgWxKMCb1b2q7effOMs-mm_06LYTuna_unWoaQ0rM1q_3GYMRb80V5D0VcMwWVsIQIwuRB0X0iklTKf4W7b7uZicQsVrhO4qNBSN2ZlpatIC9JISNRwXp1rGs9r8x2hOXBFNh3gxTa8c0/s640/industryvspoppyp1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For the curious out there about the new flat feet foot sculpt, here it is next to Poppy Parker's. I must say that Poppy's foot looks more aesthetically pleasing...until they wear the heeled shoes, that is. Then Liu Liu Ling's ankle wins. Below, you'll see both feet try on a pair of FR heels.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ZoF-5xnnHfs-VhOwkeowmfAaJCN4HnC0WEMaDW8IN01HTcoYAyLkbq1aWp4UYaUxxNFy8TPmQS_Yvig4PYHpxT3LK8lZ-xeBOb_3SFLvK7T_CQ_XkXI5wfzEVKWBcKlOEkfFda4xMWQ/s1600/industryvspoppyp2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ZoF-5xnnHfs-VhOwkeowmfAaJCN4HnC0WEMaDW8IN01HTcoYAyLkbq1aWp4UYaUxxNFy8TPmQS_Yvig4PYHpxT3LK8lZ-xeBOb_3SFLvK7T_CQ_XkXI5wfzEVKWBcKlOEkfFda4xMWQ/s640/industryvspoppyp2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
That's my latest journey with dolls, folks! I know it's been a while. Alas, sometimes stuff happens...<br />
<br />
Happy Monday!<br />

Sharing a couple more outfits from the Sindy lot I acquired... Whoever previously owned the stuff really liked their sleepwear. There was another Sweet Dreams outfit in the lot that was white with a floral pattern but that nightgown's straps were completely missing and the elastic on the fabric was too loose to hold the dress up. Sadly, none of my dolls can model it. As it is, the Misty Blue nightgown on my brunette Sindy has misaligned straps. It looked like someone had tried to mend it in the past and forgot to measure. Luckily, there is a negligee jacket that covers it all. The blue Sweet Dreams nightgown is in pretty good condition except for the worn out bow. Sindy dolls sure liked wearing outfits with a lot of lace.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Anyone has any clue about the height difference on these Sindy dolls? I know that Sindy came in different body types but I had assumed they were all the same height. The brunette one I have has rotating hands and bendy arms but is she supposed to be shorter because of the type of body she has? Silly me for not noticing the height difference until this particular photo shoot...<br />
<br />
In the mean time, here's my newly named Sindy doll, Florien, modelling the My Fair Sindy dress.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The dress could use some ironing. It was also missing the matching hat so I had to improvise and borrow from another doll. Looks pretty good despite the slight color variation. I love it when things work out!<br />

<br />
I hazily remember having seen a blonde Pedigree Sindy at a doll show one year many years ago. I guess I wasn't ready for her then. It was a matter of time, I suppose. After rediscovering my sister's Hasbro Sindy (blogged <a href="https://dollepic.blogspot.ca/2016/02/the-story-of-sindy.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>), I had contemplated over getting my own Sindy for some time. Only I'm partial to the even older ones with the big heads.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwlwujccMPv-bXEWDyUQVhnVp6we9FbTxTO1D4vjMLoDKjxkvhhzG933aHAD_q6N8P2-SI0L-aoZKYCEsq3F4MMRm1WA9K9e3bvnEu2EO42iupnZls6h_HyYCObceRCA1LcJXJM8oSIEI/s1600/florian-macha-grpshot2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwlwujccMPv-bXEWDyUQVhnVp6we9FbTxTO1D4vjMLoDKjxkvhhzG933aHAD_q6N8P2-SI0L-aoZKYCEsq3F4MMRm1WA9K9e3bvnEu2EO42iupnZls6h_HyYCObceRCA1LcJXJM8oSIEI/s640/florian-macha-grpshot2.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
I recently snagged a Sindy lot on Ebay with her closet and a bunch of tlc clothes for a good price. The closet itself is in really good condition with the expected yellowing due to its age. The clothes varied in state and most of them need mending. One of the calico print dresses was in excellent condition while I had to sew the snaps back on the other one. How fascinating that even though the floral print on the dresses are the same, they actually slightly vary in shades and the cloth material on one is softer than the other. Plus, the lace collar is designed wider on one and not the other.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWuR9D5mbq2EgpD0xTe7uniDNKumhbkHoX1yJznkVVJ3xyYCkNtqVOm7lxk_l3V3IB_6ZbbnshLPGHlvWbQxNkw_HS1orOGKZBXW95qpjxl_dFMayUCAv4t6Be02H725SQQterrS5XprY/s1600/florian2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWuR9D5mbq2EgpD0xTe7uniDNKumhbkHoX1yJznkVVJ3xyYCkNtqVOm7lxk_l3V3IB_6ZbbnshLPGHlvWbQxNkw_HS1orOGKZBXW95qpjxl_dFMayUCAv4t6Be02H725SQQterrS5XprY/s640/florian2.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
One can never go wrong with a brunette Sindy in a doll lot. There are too many blonde Sindys! She's not perfect by any means. There's a hairline crack on one of her hands. Her hair was hideous and standing on end when I got her but she cleaned up nicely. I'm not a fan of the strange way her hair is thinly rooted all around except the crown. I've read somewhere that some Sindys tend to have thin hair and my brunette doll is no exception. It also looks like someone had fun with scissors and this doll at some point in time. Still, she's super cute!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Ogjnq8kFaFRnUwbsLQWM-dTDrufbZ90yY3geTrEqrO4zFXY9KjrCtjjEMANhzkV_iP84FtksXCStNrBMVZtD4XFcQW5hXwNy2E-D7WaDavEDpmSiYdKMGT1O7Njx5iOsi_dnD2QSad4/s1600/macha-dinnerdate1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Ogjnq8kFaFRnUwbsLQWM-dTDrufbZ90yY3geTrEqrO4zFXY9KjrCtjjEMANhzkV_iP84FtksXCStNrBMVZtD4XFcQW5hXwNy2E-D7WaDavEDpmSiYdKMGT1O7Njx5iOsi_dnD2QSad4/s640/macha-dinnerdate1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here's a dress that is a part of Sindy's fashion called 'Let's Have a Dinner Party' from the lot that I tried to salvage. It's missing the overcoat, headband and shoes. Three of the four snaps were hanging off and the velcro to hold the collar was gone. The dress itself was very wrinkly. I actually washed it and tried to iron out the wrinkles so it looks so much better than before even though it's still wrinkly. I was afraid to iron in high heat and ruin it further. I sewed back the loose snaps and replaced the missing velcro with metal snaps.<br />
<br />
The flower headband belongs to a Sindy wedding outfit that wasn't in the lot so Sindy is wearing it with this dress instead. Just like one can never go wrong with a brunette Sindy, one can never go wrong with a headband on a big headed doll!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnbnQUuBgqCm13m7MWB1KujQt0Qsk62YmNP8Gbp-LLVsD9VQN3ryAAz7R_4s-lfKFsyXLz1LL0-UIM2HVICBhmgqaivN-LrKudEpGrgTziDJxyX3YjyIKk7mzr6DIYHZGHmnteqRX8-V0/s1600/sindyvssindy2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnbnQUuBgqCm13m7MWB1KujQt0Qsk62YmNP8Gbp-LLVsD9VQN3ryAAz7R_4s-lfKFsyXLz1LL0-UIM2HVICBhmgqaivN-LrKudEpGrgTziDJxyX3YjyIKk7mzr6DIYHZGHmnteqRX8-V0/s640/sindyvssindy2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm thoroughly enjoying this new vintage doll venture. As fun as it is to collect and seek out vintage fashion dolls like Francie, she's outrageously priced most of the time and it's very difficult to find her in good condition for a good price. Sindy dolls can be pricey too at times but you can still get good ones for reasonable prices. I can see Sindy as Francie's big-headed friend from the UK!<br />
<br />
....And to think the spark to this new love affair really only began when I rediscovered my sister's old doll.<br />
<br /></div>

<div>
Before there were collector Barbie dolls in my life, there were My Scene dolls. I was never a fan of the Bratz dolls but I did like the earlier My Scene before they got too snooty looking. They reminded me of anime characters with their big head and eyes. I absolutely loved the playsets too. And for once, I was fond of the boy dolls (Sorry Ken!).</div>

<div>
Had to dig through stuff for these guys. I actually don't remember which My Scene Barbie I have here so if you recognize her, pretty please let me know. She's wearing her original outfit and I remember her coming with two other separates.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sutton is wearing his original top and necklace but I apparently exchanged his cargo shorts with a pair of pants when I put him away. The shorts required more digging and I ran out of patience. Check out the belt on his pants though. It is nicely detailed! And he actually has a cuff bracelet on his right wrist that isn't showing. These dolls were very well made. Even his hair is cool!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Barbie is looking fab too. These My Scene dolls can probably put the pink label collector dolls today by Mattel to shame when quality and price is compared. And My Scene were playline dolls. Ah, the good ol' days!</div>

<br />
Ask Any Girl is up there with my top three favorite Poppy Parker dolls. She's also one of the earlier dolls without the applied lashes. I was actually pretty pumped when Poppy ended up getting the applied lashes later on. However, these days I find myself drawn back to the old Poppy style. My favorite Poppy Parker of all time thus far is still Tears Go By and she, too, only has the painted on lashes. She's very closely followed by Ask Any Girl. Have I really had this doll for six years? Where did the time go?<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Speaking of dolls from a time gone by, my Nimue is sporting an attire, sans the gloves, from an even older doll, a 1991 Hasbro Sindy doll called Edwardian Dream Sindy, hence the post title.<br />

<br />
This Hasbro Sindy is not the best looking of the Hasbro Sindy bunch. My sister's doll, which can be seen <a href="https://dollepic.blogspot.ca/2016/02/the-story-of-sindy.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>, is better looking in my eyes. I must confess that it wasn't so much the doll as it was her magnificent outfit that made me get her some time ago in the first place. For a playline doll, her outfit is super detailed and well-made. They just don't make playline dolls like these anymore! Naturally, Poppy Parker had to see if she could pull off the Edwardian look. I find that Poppy can pretty much steal outfits from similar sized dolls and rock it even better than the original outfit owners. Wouldn't you agree?<br />

</tbody></table>
I decided to start this blast from the past segment to bring some of my old dolls back in the limelight and reminisce them good ol' days. First up is Exotic Beauty Barbie. I chose her because she's never actually graced this blog even though I've had her close to the beginning of my doll collecting journey.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0PfvOL_dr4FR72E62G0PF2yvj2FUuGqB_VY_xz48DBy8vBIAlFCRNy4-HtqqWUgivW6dZoeY0SMSQr69fwQf3L1HoExOhPvP08fHHPmJoBlA3F-WMuJ8y2EBY3sYDrvKPta1rbFx0ywo/s1600/exoticbeautybrb1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0PfvOL_dr4FR72E62G0PF2yvj2FUuGqB_VY_xz48DBy8vBIAlFCRNy4-HtqqWUgivW6dZoeY0SMSQr69fwQf3L1HoExOhPvP08fHHPmJoBlA3F-WMuJ8y2EBY3sYDrvKPta1rbFx0ywo/s640/exoticbeautybrb1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I got her at the very first local doll show I had ever attended, probably in 2004. I went there with a friend. I remember when we were paying the entrance fee and the mature lady at the desk gave us a weird look that almost said we didn't belong there. I thought that was odd. She didn't even hand us the free doll bag that she handed to everyone else. Of course my friend and I had no idea there were bags handed out until we got inside the dealers room and found just about everyone carrying it around... And then we were like, what the frigg??? No matter. I managed to snag this doll for a steal so it was still a good day. I probably would have left with more goodies if I could afford them.<br />
<br />

I still find this doll very appealing. She exudes class all around. And I love that necklace...back in the day when Barbie collector dolls wore metal jewelry. I also like the style of the dress. I do remember having to actually iron out the creases at the bottom of her gown because they were folded to fit in her doll box. The dress minus the creases displays beautifully.<br />

I'm so proud of myself! Ergo, I had to share here. Except for a broken porcelain doll given to me once upon a time that I pieced back together with super glue, I'd never done anything like this. When I created the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lonelylisadoll/" target="_blank">Lonely Lisa Facebook Page</a> I was extremely inspired to get constructive.<br />

I first got my very own Lonely Lisa doll in 2011. She was in excellent condition with one flaw. Her stuffing had shrivelled up. She was 47 years old after all. I like to keep my dolls in pristine condition so I shipped her out to get re-stuffed not too long after and she came back all huggy and with a big booty again. I can be very finicky so I'd always been fearful of doing this sort of thing myself.<br />

<br />
About a year or so later, I stumbled upon another Lonely Lisa on Ebay in very good condition and my fingers clicked the bid and buy button. When I received her, I realized that her body was actually in a poorer condition than my first one. She was definitely skinnier and I could feel most of her wire armature inside. At the time, I believe I was on a fashion doll collecting high so getting my second Lonely Lisa doll re-stuffed went on a back burner.<br />

2017 has just begun and I was feeling brave and inspired. I decided that it was time for my second Lonely Lisa doll to get in shape...You see, even some dolls require getting into shape! Hahaha! The labor of love took two days. I wanted to make sure she was clean and completely dry. My first doll has a water mark on one knee. I don't think she was completely dry when re-stuffed.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The brilliant Build-A-Bear idea came into light!</td></tr>

<br />
I was pretty amazed at the end result. I hadn't hand-sewn anything since...I can't recall, meaning it's been a long time. The heart you see above was actually my exercise run of testing whether I still remember how to do simple stitches. I got the idea from Build-A-Bear where they stuff their bears with hearts that you've made a wish on. So I stuffed my second Lonely Lisa doll with a heart too! I didn't have any red fabric though. She ended up with a quilted type of satiny brown fabric heart.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
And voila! Two of my 1964 Lonely Lisa dolls, now both washed and re-stuffed. The one wearing the checkered dress is the one I re-stuffed. I've decided to rename her Laurel so I'm not doing the whole Lisa One and Lisa Two thing. The Laurel name comes from the laurel tree, symbolic of honor and victory...And I'm feeling very victorious right now. It's fitting!<br />
<br />
You might notice how Laurel's grown a good inch and a half taller. They used to be very close in height as seen below...although even then, Laurel looked ever so slightly taller. And your eyes aren't tricking you. The one wearing a heart pendant has a slightly bigger and rounder face. Interestingly, I checked the back of their heads and they are both marked 1964 but one has a number 18 stamped below the year and the taller one has 19. I was pretty mystified about that too.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Laurel's before photo.</td></tr>

<br />
I don't think I pushed the wire armature deep enough in her feet. Or maybe the wire armature was meant to curve on her butt? Or was she just so shrivelled up that she ended up looking like she was the same 17" tall as my first Lonely Lisa... Either way she's looking fantastic now.<br />

<br />
I wanted to do a yearly look back and highlight dolls that joined my doll family in 2016. Instead, I found myself reminiscing random collecting moments throughout my years as a doll collector. It has been over a decade! I started collecting dolls in late 2004. I didn't have a blog then and I wasn't a part of any doll clubs, etc., but I'd always been enthused by photographs I'd seen online and I wanted to be a part of the fun. The combination of doll collecting and photography gave me a happy medium to express myself without really having to show my face or divulge my name or any real personal info. Good photograph. Bad photograph. My dolls are my muses and they represented me. That was the end of story.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lonely Lisa, Yukon and the Christmas plant</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
And then it dawned on me that I had been doing this for a while and I need to be more interactive. Sometimes I just don't know what to say or don't feel I have anything significant to say. Hahaha! That's why I call my blog archive, 'Ramblings'. But that's no excuse to be silent.<br />
<br />
So I decided to start a New Year doll project. I've created a Lonely Lisa fan page on Facebook in hopes of being a little more interactive. Why Lonely Lisa? This vintage doll has fascinated me since I first laid eyes on her through Flickr years ago. There isn't much info out there about her and from the pictures I've seen, she came in so many variations. I've always thought that a part of the fun of doll collecting is the thrill of the hunt. Frustrating, yes. Fun, absolutely! So, whether it's hunting for the doll or doll info it would be interesting to have a place where vintage doll enthusiasts could share their stories and discoveries about this rare vintage doll.<br />
<br />
Join me on Facebook and let's share our discoveries about Lonely Lisa. Click <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lonelylisadoll/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. With her big sad eyes, I promise you that she will walk right into your heart.<br />
<br />
If vintage isn't your thing and you just love dolls, period. I do have a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/dollepic/" target="_blank">Doll Epic Facebook Page</a> where even more of my doll random moments can be seen.<br />
<br />
See you around!<br />

I got two beautiful Tonner dolls for Christmas. I love ancient world mythologies and anything to do with ancient Egypt so these really hit the spot. Sadly, the end of 2016 also marks the end of the Tonner Doll Company. I'd always admired some of this company's dolls, especially Ellowyne Wilde, and enjoyed them through many collector photos on blogs and photo galleries. I am glad to have gotten my Tonner doll fix before they got discontinued. They really are wonderful.<br />

They make me wish Mattel still made the lingerie silkstones. The earlier silkstone dolls had some quality lingeries. I think I'm going to have to start having 'blast-from-the-past' segments on this blog in 2017. My older dolls are screaming for some attention.<br />

<br />
This year, Integrity Toys made it official to discontinue the Dynamite Girls line. While I wasn't surprised by the news, it saddens me a bit that they will no longer be produced. I remember the first time I bought a Dynamite Girl doll. I got two at the same time actually: Sooki and Eltin. Barbie dolls still ruled my collection back then so when I got the chance to de-box the Dynamite Girls, I was completely blown away by how much more fun they were to play with than Barbie. Their price points hovered in the same range, only the Dynamite Girls has a lot more articulation that they can actually sit down with bent knees at a 90° angle. That simple pose made me so happy...it's not even funny! I was instantly hooked on them!<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
The Dynamite Girls were fun and they were youthful. Their price point wasn't too shabby and yet they were of good quality. I remember being delighted by the fact that Eltin's super cool microphone was made of metal. Fast forward five years later to a Midas Touch Poppy Parker doll with her plastic microphone at more than double the price of what that old Eltin doll and her detailed metal microphone cost me, I can't help but appreciate how great the Dynamite Girls were, even if we're just talking price point!<br />

Over the years, the DG dolls eventually got their body upgrades. They matured in looks and fashions that don't quite excite me so I didn't really collect them anymore. Plus I fell in love with Poppy. In a way, Reese was right. It was Poppy's fault!<br />
<br />
...But the good times clearly doesn't have to end if you have these dolls in your collection!<br />

Meet Icarus. I love her stock name so I kept it. She's been residing in my doll room for some time and wishes to make herself known today. <br />
I love this doll not only for her embodiment of the Steampunk genre but also for her reference to Greek mythology. In Greek myth, Icarus was the son of the great inventor of the labyrinth, Daedalus. Daedalus created two pairs of wings held together by wax for himself and his son to escape the kingdom of Knossos. Unfortunately, despite warnings, Icarus flew too close to the sun. His wax melted and he plummeted to his death in the Aegean sea. It was a cautionary tale of avoiding extremes.<br />
<br />
Here's my Icarus with her wings in all its glory:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
She's not going to fly anywhere so Icarus won't be plunging to her demise anytime soon. Her hand did fall off for no reason at all! All I did was pick her up for a photo shoot. Groove takes such careful consideration making epic outfits for these dolls. I wish they'd pay close attention to making better hands for them! The fragile joints of these dolls are well known to collectors. This is actually my second Dal with a broken hand. What's the point of hand articulation if the hand breaks before you could move them? Lucky for Icarus that she's so cool; I don't love her any less!<br />

I finally found my camera charger! It was staring me in the face the entire time! I knew my current camera is good but you really start to appreciate it when you try taking pictures with your old camera and everything comes out blurry without the flash on.<br />
<br />
As soon as I charged up my battery, I wanted to take a few photos in clarity. I had some random crap all over the the doll room floor (note to self: please clean up your crap) and in one of the small containers, I found the old Charlie Brown toys that I took home from a doll show four years ago. I wish I had more of these. I'm missing some epic characters like Schroeder, Peppermint Patty and Marcy. Anyway, I took what I had and these photos are the result.<br />

<br />
If you're a collector who likes to debox your stuff, it's often just as important to have that perfect display case to showcase your collection. Months ago, Integrity Toys offered a chance to order some LED display cases that I couldn't pass up. They arrived a couple of days ago. They're roughly 23"Hx11"W, much taller than the normal 12" dolls that I collect. These are acrylic cases, however, and can easily be cut up to your desired height with the proper sharp cutter, should you choose to do so. The black top and bottom base just reattaches right back on and under the acrylic walls.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I personally like the height of this case. I have a few dolls over 16" in my collection that never get enough attention despite their gigantic stature. My 11"-12" dolls are camera hogs so the big ones rarely ever make an appearance in photographs. I thought this was the perfect time to test how great it would be if they were individually showcased.<br />

<br />
It's looking fantastic, I must say! I got these awesome doll kimonos from an Ebay seller about five years ago. She did such a wonderful job on them! Click <a href="http://dollepic.blogspot.ca/2012/03/remembering-japan.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> to see the first time I photographed one of these kimonos on an AvantGuard doll. They were actually meant for Ellowyne Wilde. I don't have any Ellowyne dolls but I've seen her body and she's not as shapely as the 16" FR gals. The beauty about kimonos in general is they're not form fitting so my girls can get away with them and they still look magnificent!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span id="goog_322435723"></span><span id="goog_322435724"></span><br />
Bam! Do they look pretty in those cases side by side or what? I did top up the dolls' bases with another base about 2"H to center them because there was still quite a bit of headroom. It works out since the kimonos are long.<br />
<br />
Display cases like these are totally worth every penny. And they're so easy to assemble. Plus, who doesn't appreciate those lights? They give the dolls that extra something something. Now, where to put them....<br />

<br /><div>
Got this doll at Silver Snail Comic book shop on a whim over a decade ago. I have a collection of anime figures and I wanted a doll that had an anime face. I didn't know Princess Ai or cared for her manga. I just liked her look. Unfortunately, even though I have my anime figures on display, this particular doll never joined them. She never joined my other fashion dolls either. She basically sat in her box for many years.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
...Something made me dig her up today. I even googled her and discovered some interesting details about her. Apparently, she was created from the collaboration of Courtney Love, Ai Yazawa and Misaho Kujiradou. Courtney Love, I'm familiar with. I don't know Misaho Kujiradou but I do know Ai Yazawa. Ai Yazawa's Nana anime/manga is one of my favorites. If you like to watch anime or read manga, Nana is a must see/read. Forget about reading my useless ramblings. Go search Nana now! Go!</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
Back to the doll...<br /><div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As you can probably tell from the photo, the plastic used on her head and body is starting to majorly change colors. I don't quite remember her head being super pink, or her body being super yellow. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Her outfit is not of the greatest quality either and she has a pair of black cloth shoes that have already dyed her toes black. I do find it interesting that the back of her dress has a red criss-cross detailing that you would never know about unless you free her from her box prison.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
She's an, overall, cute doll. I wish she was of better quality. I wonder if I can re-body that pretty head...</div>

<br />
I only just got on the Curvy Barbie train about a week ago so please excuse my delayed enthusiasm for this latest doll evolution. Not even Made-to-Move Barbie has gotten me this excited over a playline doll in a while. I mean, look at her. The doll's got glorious thighs!<br />
<br />
When I was a kid, Barbie was just a pretty blonde doll with cool clothes. I didn't care that she had big boobs and a non-existent waist while I grew up with a house full of Asian women who didn't quite have those measurements...or blonde hair for that matter. However, I do understand why some mothers of today would be concerned about the kind of message that Barbie might be sending off to the young impressionable minds. Ergo, I commend Mattel for taking doll play to a whole new level of diversity.<br />

So here she is in all her glory! She does not have the bendy legs. She doesn't have pierced ears. She has the typical articulation on the neck, shoulders and thighs. Nothing more. Very simple really. The takeaway from this doll is the bigger than typical Barbie sized hips and thighs, and rounder bottom. I specifically didn't put her beside an old Barbie doll because on her own, she looks totally normal. (There is an amazing review <a href="http://www.toyboxphilosopher.com/2016/08/curvy-barbie-meets-new-lammily.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> by the ToyBoxPhilosopher with tons of pics next to Lammily.) She only looks big next to a stick thin Barbie doll. I daresay that most of us women out there have shapely thighs...and if you devour chocolate like I do, it's a guarantee!<br />

<br />
Here's the thing: Barbie's been skinny for 57 years so imagine the wardrobe dilemma that Javiera is facing. The curvy doll incarnation that I got had a floral print dress. Depending on execution, I'm almost always not a fan of floral patterns and her default attire was no exception. I chose her because I loved the simplicity of her facial screening color palette and her brown hair. It's easy to forget how curvy she is as a stand alone doll until I tried some old Barbie clothes on her. Total disaster. Luckily, she looks good naked! Hahaha!<br />

Ok, so I did find something else to put her in. It was a struggle to put her in that top. She could only fit into one sleeve...oopsy! She's rockin the jumper though! Super fun doll! And the best part is she was less than ten dollars!<br />
