Dolls Will Rule...

...The post-apocalyptic world.  At least in the movie '9' they will.

And since I'm a fan of apocalyptic sci-fi stories, I quite enjoyed this film.  Interestingly enough, the main characters are dolls, stitchpunk cloth dolls to be exact!  Mankind was long gone and it's up to these little dolls, once brought to life by a brilliant scientist using pieces of his own soul, to fight the machines for the sake of keeping alive what's left of humanity....ironically, the dolls.

Different types of dolls have made their impact on our own human history throughout the ages from figures of divinity to playthings and even collectibles.  They reflected life trends of the moment from religion to fashion or cultural celebrations.  I think it's great that such a film has been created where dolls finally got to take center stage, even left with a dire mission:  to preserve humanity. In our society where there is an abundance of toys, dolls are often taken for granted.  But they're more than that.  Their staying power in the world of play and imagination  through a variety of incarnations throughout history has proven so.  Given a chance to kick ass, dolls can rule the world....at least in the movie '9' that is!  Now if you'll excuse me.  I need to teach my barbies some tricks...
